The Sol Survivor team has made it back safely from PAX09 with some swag, stories and sickness to go around. The journey began for four of us at 4am Thursday with an 18 hour drive from Orange County, CA to Seattle, WA. After taking up old friends on places to stay for the weekend, we prepped for what would be a very eventful weekend. PAX09 was a celebration of all that is game, and it was an honor to have our small part to play in that. Our three full-time developers and some of our other part-time contributors took time off to meet the XBox Indie Games crew and give some play-through demos to press and gamers alike. It was a great experience to meet the dozens of indie games developers we were privileged enough to hook up with too. The community is thriving, and it's awesome to be a part of it. As for Dream Build Play, our team has no regrets about finishing out of the money. I had the chance to play all of the finalists' games personally, and all of them were made of championship material. Big congratulations are due to the creator of Dust for a standout title, and our best wishes are with him and all of the other finalists as they prep their games for release! After a grueling weekend, two of the four guys in the car for the ride home (myself included) caught the PAX Pox and were down for the count as we trekked back from Seattle to Southern California. That said, we're home now, and our game is 60% through Indie Games peer review as we speak. We hope to be available to the public by Tuesday, 15th September. Shortly after our first patch for the Indie Games version, we will be retooling the team to polish up our PC release due within the next two months. If you're new to Sol Survivor or the Cadenza team, stop by our blog section or follow us on Twitter (@cadenzagames) for updates on our development cycle and get involved with the process! Thanks again to everyone who has made our PAX09 experience so memorable, and we hope to see you soon! -Dylan (Askari) |

We are dedicated to making the best possible game we can make, and we are glad to see the gaming community enjoy our product as much as we love playing it ourselves. Sol Survivor is officially one of the Finalists in Microsoft's Dream, Build, Play 2009 Competition! Cadenza Interactive has been invited to attend PAX this weekend to show off "the most technically impressive" game of the finalists according to The Feed Blog over at G4TV.com. Our development team will be present all 3 days at PAX so come on over to our booth and talk with us, because the only thing we like more than playing the game is talking about it! |

As a team, we love what we do. Making Sol Survivor has become what we do for fun. Even after the crunchtime getting ready for the Dream Build Play submission, we spent hours talking about where the game has come from, and where we hope to take it. We like making this game in part because we enjoy the sense of community that video games engender. We also like being able to share our process and allow you, the player, to see how it is we put together Sol Survivor. On behalf of the whole team, I invite you to follow us on Twitter, RSS or both.
